Shoe sizes

My girlfriend is American and I've bought her a pair of shoes for christmas.

She tells me she's a US size 9. Now, for a UK size I've come across conflicting views on the internet.

The lady in the shop told me it was UK size 7 and she told me to come back and exchange them if she's wrong.

Can you guys help me clear this up.

AFAIK the US sizes = one size down here. I need 11 US and 10 UK.

Most shoes I have seen have both US, and UK sizes in (as well as sometimes European size).

Check in the shoe, or better, the manufacturers website.

nearly all shoes say on them.

Although mine don't. Look at some trainers.

Go into a sport shoe shop - the shoes will have the UK and US sizes in - well most Nike and Reebok trainers do.

Though you'l look wierd doing it.

From experience, US sizes are 2 sizes different.

Depends on the shoe

I wear anything from 6 1/2 to 8 depending on who makes the shoe. (UK sizes)

They are usually between half and one size out depending on what make/style you buy. Other than that you will have to guess. Sorry.
