Shootmania beta

Played this briefly last night, played a mode where this forcefield closes in and you have to fight to stay within the forcefield last man standing style.

Is that one of many gamemodes? Is that the "main" gamemode people are playing? Can't wait to play some more.
 
I will do one if it work but I think it might be tied to my e-mail?

I've been playing a different game type tonight...not sure what it was called but there was a red and blue team and you had to capture towers to your colour and it went in waves of attacking and defending towers with a timer for each...very odd, I didn't really understand what was going on.

However...what was of note and very good was the amount of players, one team starts from the same position and it was a little flood of red bods running over the map, very funny and most importantly it was fluid and smooth!

Also I finally found a railgun! When on defence and standing by a tower your weapon is changed to a gun similar to the lightning gun from UT2003 - but a useful one!

It's very easy to camp people who leap off cliffs as they seem to move fairly slowly due to having jetpacks.

One thing I noticed was I could hit people at a distance four times in a row, though they had moved after I shot them the game registered where I and they were when I fired and though the character had moved on, the death animation was back where I had fired...a little hard to explain but it seems to be making up for any lag and it was very satisfying knowing that the shot you fire can connect and not miss due to slow connections!

I found another weapon as well...go into tunnels and the gun changes into another projectile launcher that can stick to walls...it's ok...not great.

This game is looking up but I still find the weapons a bit useless so far!
 
When starting a game in the respawn pods hit F1 and the rules are displayed on the little moniter

Also there is an update now that adds hero mode not sure what it is yet lol and also female stormdude new blocks and some bugfixes, it should prompt you on entering maniaplanet

Saw this at rezzed and didn't like the look of it at all, they also promised people a go for the grand prize when playing blue v red team. But people wouldn't get the **** off, that annoys me, the announcer also didn't let others have a go. My younger brother was waiting for ages :(

Sorry to hear you had a bad expierience i must admit i am really enjoying shootmania but then again i am a huge nadeo and trackmania fanboy and find the devs very good at keeping the community informed.

Also nadeo staff are allways playing online and is fun to frag the creators lol

I was annoyed in general and the game looked like arse :p, brother was more interested. Not the game's fault the announcer was a nob ;) but he did work for the company

Ahh it's ok, that's the great thing about Rezzed if you don't like something try something else :). We also had a huge question and answer form at the end who we liked and disliked :D

Yeah I saw the rules but the mode I was playing (not sure of it's name) it was so hectic I couldn't work out what was going on.

Have to say I've had another go tonight on a quiet server 2v2 then 3v3 doing the same - capturing towers and it was brilliant.

There are multiple ways to the towers, you can take high, mid or low routes, and the guns which really irritated me before with their five shot limit before recharging are beginning to grow on me, strategy is involved, you can't just randomly fire all over the place.

4 days left on the beta...have to find some more time for it!

How is everyone else finding it?
 
Something that I've always been amazed about with the Mania games is the ranking system...whats your world ranking?

In Shootmania I'm currently 3341 with 2003 ladder points (no idea what those are).
 
I received beta access for seven days a couple of days back...it said when the seven days were up it would send me further details so I don't know whether the beta will be extended or if they are releasing it.
