Shoplifting...

No - there is nothing "clever" about it at all.
It is out and out theft.
There is never anything clever about theft be it from a friend, your place of work or some random victim.

You sound as if you are in full admiration for this thief - that is just sad.

Well yes it is clever.

There are lots of clever things about theft. That's why there are so many clever people paid good money to think of ways to stop it.

Just because something is wrong does not stop it being cleaver or impressive.

War is very wrong yet the tactics, strategies and technology used in them is some of the most impressive work humans have ever produced.

Sounds like she's beating herself up over it. Make her feel better by playing it down like it's not such a big deal. It's a very small crime in the grand scheme of things, plenty of people have done much worse and got away with it.

You what?

I ****ing well haven't!

Small crime my arse

My thoughts are more along the lines of..

Leave the skank.

Shops will make an insurance claim for any item stolen. Currys would claim for every single CD, kettle, toaster, etc that had been stolen. Yes, even the £3.99 jobbies.

The buck doesn't stop at the big mean shop conglomerates. It goes onto the bigger, meaner insurance companies who will increase all (personal and commercial) prices to cover their payouts.

this is wrong, shops will write all losses off as shrinkage

I think it's clever not admirable. When we watch hustle we all chuckle at their chosen method of deception.

That is deception.
Sure, still theft but done by confusing the victim.
Simply stealing stuff is not impressive nor clever.

A basic lack of morals - I personally refuse to associate with such people.

the method of loading up a microwave so it won't set off the sensors or be found on cctv is clever.

Conning someone is fairly clever but relies on the stupidity/greed of a person, but "simply stealing stuff" is usually competing against a group of people and a very expensive security system :p.

If, in a years time, she hasn't stolen anything else, then sure, we can chalk it down to a blip and say she simply made a mistake.

This forum amazes me. One minute we have a crap justice system and we are too light on criminals, the next its all 'there there, never mind, poor girl' when she gets caught stealing?

I wonder what would have happened had she not been caught...
I understand your point but I think vandalism and destruction should just be punished far more. Theft can be an understandable crime, one gains something... Vandalism and hooligan behavior should be eradicated.

Would you be saying that if she walked through your but I'd rather have someone nick my tv, than come in, ram a bat through the front or throw it from the window, and walk out.

What do you think, would you prefer someone to nick your 530i ( so still having a reasonable chance to get it back in more or less the same condition), or someone throw a molotov under it or hit every single panel, light, window, alloy with a hammer, pee on the seats, rip the leather up, etc ?

Seriously, going into a shop and trying to steal from them isn't a 'mistake'. It's something you decide to do.

Not sure why you wish to keep company with criminals, and that is all she is now.

You crack me up sometimes Fox.

Hopefully she has seen sense, and won't do it again.
