Petrol isn't crazy expensive either, but beyond that......
To the OP, I think Barcelona is great for all tastes and budgets and would be my choice. Weather will be nice too. Venice would go down well and is unique and romantic, but expensive.

Iceland , took the missus there for her 50th last year at the end of April cost £600 just checked the prices £613 now with Thomson , 2 peeps 4 nights fly from Manchester, 2 1/2 hour flight.
