Short SATA cables?

Im building up a small form factor server, and i am trying to minimize cable clutter.

I have about 20 SATA cables, but they are all around 300mm long, which would be annoying when the hard drive is very close to the SATA port.

Can they be shortened and re soldered, or is that not possible?

Thats normal as most are 45cm-60cm long. (OCUK)

You can get 20cm-30cm elsewhere, so bascially you have shorter than normal vable to start with and I would not try shorten and rejoin.
