Well I was tell my mates about my new shiney DS LITE and 2 of my mates really got on my nerves.

"DS is for children"

"Why is it?" I replied

"Just is"

This really annoyed me for some reason. The worst thing is he thought he was right.

Told them about online play while sitting outside and chatting to people using mic and stuff and they just said the same thing "it's for children"

Some people really annoy me with this attitude.

Sorry just had to get it off my chest.

Anyone know anyone else with an attitude like this?

Thanks

Funnily enough I find it's 12 year olds that usually seem to have this attitude. As people get older they stop caring whether things are for kids or not. My 21 year old brother spends most of the day watching kids cartoons. Although I'm guessing your friends are 18/19 so maybe they need to grow up a bit...

ds is a kids console really thats what 90% of the games are aimed at. Dosen't mean its a bad thing though its still fun.

I couldn't dissagree more. The games are aimed at people who were around for retro games like mario and simpler puzzle games like whack-a-mole. For this reason alone it could easily be said that they are aimed at the older generation of gamers... but again this would be false.

The fact is, it is a console just as the playstations and xboxes are, just like the PSP is and just like the Game Gear was many years ago. Consoles are not necessarily aimed at an age group, particularly not anymore. If anything is aimed at a particular group it is certain games such as the Barbie series, which is highly unlikely to interest a 30 year old man.

I'm so old I cant even remember my age, and yet the DS is the best gadget I've bought in ages. The ease of use for online competative play, the retro appeal of Mario (takes me back to Uni days) and the soon-to-be had browser functionality make this a must have for gamers regardless of age, imo.
