Mine seems to be deserting me; if someone asked me what I did on Sunday, I wouldn't have a clue. However I can still remember stuff from being a little kid.

I do loads of puzzles, crosswords, play a bit of chess and stuff to try and stay mentally agile but it doesn't seem to do any good for memory. :p

Strangely enough I don't have much of a problem memorising several pages of music.

Am I facing an early onset of old-fogey syndrome? :(

Worst I smoke weed thread ever.

I seem to recall reading something about smoking weed changing the way your brain prioritises information, thus in some areas you will seem to have memory loss but others you may see gains.

Of course... I can't really remember :D

Well the way I see it is.........................

erm...... sorry what did I come in here for and has anybody seen my biro? I had it in my hand a minute ago :(

Apparently it effects, everyone differently. Some people say that it makes it easier to learn and remember because you become more easily fascinated. Could actually be used as a learning aid for some people.

To the OP, you either have a good long term memory and bad short term or vice versea, but generally not good in both areas. It's like being good at either maths or English but not both unless you were the kid that had straight A's. My short term is non-existent. Long term - I can remember back 25 years no probs. From 20 years ago and onwards, I can break down each month from each year.

Yeah that makes sense. :) Good to hear some other people have the same sort of situation. I have to put absolutely everything in my phone's calendar or I forget!

It's annoying when I get to the train station and can't remember if I locked the front door or not!

I get that as well PianoBasher! The paranoia of double and triple-checking that your front door is locked, or buying a Mars bar and forgetting to eat it, or getting a teaspoon out to make a cuppa then getting another teaspoon out.

Is it memory.... or that fact you aren't paying attention in the first place and thus don't absorb it?

If I don;t pay attention (ie "autopilot") .... I forget stuff easily. If I pay attention however.... it's remembered.
