It is being reported that there may be a shortage of turkey at Christmas this year.

I see this as good news, as I don't like turkey meat at all.

Considering how little turkey is stocked in supermarkets outside the Christmas period, I can't see that turkey is actually very popular.

People just have it at Christmas as it is expected of them. It's a bit like talking to your brother-in-law in that respect.

Are there any other turkey haters here, who see a potential shortage as good news?

I’m unsure how to take this, after a lifetime of earning my living with a steering wheel in my hands, I now avoid driving like the plague, much preferring to sit in back reading the paper, but I didn’t view the recent petrol queues as good news.

It is particularly nice smoked.
I prefer eating it to smoking it personally.

Just when I thought Labr@t had the crap thread of the week sewn up, you smack that bitch down and stand tall.

You go baby, rock that shizzle

Thanks!

Your kind words have inspired me to post many more threads!

Currently working on "why won't the kids put their shoes on the shoe rack?"

A lot of people don't know how to cook turkey. It's 20 mins per kg plus 90 mins. Once its out of the oven, rest it for 20-30 mins to allow the juices go back into the meat. When I was with my ex, had Xmas dinner at his mum's and she carved turkey as soon as it came out of the oven and it was very dry. Also don't put any stuffing inside the bird as it will draw out the moisture from the turkey.

My mum keeps turkey moist by 1. putting a lemon cut into quarters into the cavity 2. putting streaky bacon onto the breast and 3 put into a roasting bag. Most supermarkets have turkey roasting bags which are normally near the foil section. We have a shipper with the turkey foil, turkey foil roasting trays and roasting bags too.

Went shopping in Lidl last night and they had freezers full of them. Not that we usually eat turkey at Xmas. More concerned with our Xmas Eve curry.
