If i was to do a fresh install of windows, and on my fastest hard drive (ive got about 4 random ones connected), am i likely to get a better framerate than i do now?

Im thinking i probably would as there is less stuff clogging my system, but im unsure if its that simple.

I need CoH to run smooth, its odd jerks are getting on my nerves!

Have mercy lord

Sorry im not as clever with this stuff as some people clearly are.

Other specs are

xp2500
1gb 3200 ram
6800gt card.

if that helps.

Praise the lord

It may help, another 1GB RAM wouldn't hurt either to be honest.

It depends what you want to do really, and how long you have had the current install of Windows.

If you want to spend some money then I'd say get another GB of RAM, but if not then there is no harm in trying the fresh install as a way to get a bit more oomph out of the machine...bear in mind though that in a few months time it will be clogged again and start to run slower. Also if you go for the reinstall then make sure you do the FULL format and not the quick one.

How many Windows installs do you have?

If just the one then the autorun disc for installing it has the format you should ideally use for it.

yeah just the one install and 2 slave drives.

cheers mate ill try that when i get the time. dont like my computer clogged up with stuff. shame i cant seem to avoid doing it :(

To help avoid clogging set up some partitions and keep your OS on its own. Any stuff you download and install can go on different partitions - Windows should then stay squeaky clean for much longer. If you have separate hard drives you could also stick your Windows Page File on to a different drive which should increase performance a bit.

Oh yeah, Invader, your sig breaks the rules!

Cheers for the head's up...wasn't paying attention when I put it on. :)

The partitioning is a good way to free up the Windows area and keep it all squeeky clean. I have a Windows partition, and Progams partition and a Data partition on one of my 320GB drives, means I don't have to worry about clogging Windows up. :)
