Hi guys, first post here so bare with me.

I want to build a computer which i can upgrade as i get more money, as well i don't have a lot at the moment, however i'm worried that i may screw everything up and the computer wont function properly. I'm 17 years old and i've been working with computer my whole life, so i know quite a bit about them, but the most i've done with hardware is actually change RAM, which is kind of pathetic.

I have a budget of £410, i just want the computer to be upgradeable for the future, by this i mean. A 500-700Watt powersupply, a good CPU (so i don't have to upgrade for a little while) and a medicore GPU, along with 4gb of RAM.

Could anyone suggest me some parts for that budget? I know it wont be amazing, but as long as the CPU and powersupply and motherboard are decent then i don't think i'll mind with a average GPU.

I do want to game, but the main thing it'll be for is just web/server side programming, but it'd be good to be able to game also.

Please remember i only have £410 to spend including P&P.

Please share your first thoughts/experience with the first time you built a PC and if you had any problems.

Thank you.

EDIT: If you could, please include a Cover which has a PSU already installed, and a CPU which has the fan already installed as i really don't want to try and put on the thermal paste thing as i'm worried i'll fail.

The kit there gives you a decent setup of the best components to add to... very good motherboard, decent cpu and good memory... can add the parts along as you said! Will still need GPU, harddrive and Disc Drive but if you wanted a top spec ground system to build up from then above would be a good idea!

Is this urgent as I would wait for Sandy Bridge (Intel's next major release) which should be in early January. Itself might be above your price point but it could well cause a lot of price drops for other tech and hence I would say wait.

Also, Sandy Bridge's onboard graphics should be more than sufficient until you can afford a dedicated solution. An i5-2400 with PSU, case, motherboard and RAM should hopefully fit within £410.

Nope it's not urgent, but i would have to build this myself, do i have to buy the paste for the CPU myself? The thermal paste or whatever, because thats the part that worries me the most.

Also no idea what sandy bridge is.

If you're happy with stock cooling (hint: if you're not overclocking, the answer's yes), then everything you need (paste and cooler) is given to you.

Sandy Bridge is Intel's new CPU architecture. It offers a 10-20% boost in performance for the same price point, and it has an inbuilt graphics chip that is equivalent to the current £30-£50 dedicated graphics card market.

The first processors will be released early January.

GPU HARDRIVE DISC DRIVE What GPU, hardrive and disc drive would i get to keep this setup into my budget?

Also, when i order allt he items do they come all in one box or would they all come seperately.

If i miss up/can't set it up could i get a refund?

Paste and cooler supplied if you buy a retail CPU, not with OEM.

sorry to bump this up again but i have a few more questions.

If i decide to go with the build below could i upgrade the PSU myself later on?
Also when i order all the items do they come seperatly or just all at the same day?

Please could someone recommend a GPU & hardrive & disc drive that would work with this build.

Edit: Just tryed to add some stuff on my own.

Would everything here be compatiable? Would the thermal paste & everything come witht he cpu?

Also what are spacers? And do they come with the case/motherbaord?

thermal paste is pre applied to retail cpu cooler.

what are spacers?

Spacers are the brackets that the motherboard screws onto. The case will come with spacers.

I would recommend just trying to put the thermal grease on, if you never try you will never learn.

All the other stuff will work in the gigabyte board.

the difference is the chipset, and the 790FX board will have a few little extra overclocking features.

but the UD3H is a good overclocking board.
