Should I buy a PS3?

I ended up getting a ps3 as I play on my pc aswell so free online seemed good. Also blu-ray player is brilliant on the PS3 :D

Probably the main thing is get what your friends have.

I use my PS3 for:

Games
Freeview (record + watch)
Blu-ray
DVD
BBC iPlayer
(demand5 + 4od on youtube)
Webbrowsing

Im confused... A good gaming device? I dont see how the PS3 is any lesser of a good gaming device? If the games werent something you enjoy apart from the ones you mentioned fair enough, But thats down to personal preference. There are more exclusives on PS3 that I enjoy than 360. I wouldnt say either of them was better than the other at being a "gaming device" though.

The only logic in buying or not buying a console, is looking at the games you enjoy. Not going off someone elses idea of what good games are.

somewhat agree - apart from controller cramp on a ps3 if you have hands bigger than a five year olds..

I should have said that xbox live is the best "online" console gaming platform available - I conceed that it is not free- however, it's worth every penny compared to PS3's free service.

Both consoles are equally adept at heating any room in the house :).

i dont see the big deal between the controllers
I have the xbox 360 one for the pc and a ps3....suppose i kinda let the ps3 controller rest in my hand and grip the xbox one, had playstations for years though so prob just adapted to the controller as I grew up lol
no cramp here though

Good choice, now start enjoying all the games it has to offer :D

LBP, Uncharted 1 + 2, Killzone 2, Resistance 1 + 2, the list goes on...

Same I don't mind using either one of them over the other, I have to grip the 360 controller, I use it for PC games as most of the games I have on PC are just plug and play without needing to fiddle about with any settings.

The PS3 controller just rests in my hands I find, I don't have to put any effort in to holding it, which sounds lazy and that's because I am lazy.

same, all the ergonomic\aesthetic comments that get made over and over again.... Fair enough if its a problem to some. But I just pick up the pad and use it. Dont find any problems atall with any.

Although speaking of pads...I playing on the dreamcast round my friends the other night for like an hour, Street Fighter 3 alpha....I now have a blister. The D pad on the dreamcast makes the 360 Dpad look like a fluffy marshmallow.

For me it's the strangest thing. I love my PS3 but I never really play it all that much. As hardware goes its beautifully designed and the XMB is lovely. As a media centre device it is sublime. Games such as WipEout HD show just what kind of awesome it is capable of. LittleBigPlanet is another cracker and criminally underrated. GT5 should be amazing when it comes out. There are many other games for it too that I've forgotten to mention that are crackers too.

It's a shame really. Because of my PC I never really find myself playing my PS3. I have thought of selling it but I can't really bring myself to do so as it's a great machine even if I don't play it that much. Same cant be said for the 360 though. Don't get me wrong, cracking console but I only had mine a month and sold it because it just doesn't have that same 'feel' that the PS3 does. I think it's where I didn't go a bundle on the NXE.

Actually I think I'll have a go on it now :p

You put the blu-ray disc in and it plays.

If you already own a blu-ray player then you should be looking at the games. Unless you sell your blu-ray player and just get a PS3. The PS3 is a respectful blu-ray player, its no slouch.

Can't believe people took that post seriously. Well, I can't believe anyone takes my posts seriously tbo.

Free blu-ray player?

As soon as you said the hacked box is better than the ps3 I didnt take your post seriously :p

My 360 has been gathering dust for the last year. No games seem to be coming out for it.

On the other hand, fantastic PS3 exclusives have been consistently released this year.
