Should I buy another SSD and raid it or a single larger drive??

I haven't been keeping up to tabs on the latest SSD technology, so I was wondering do you think I would be better off on my Windows 7 machine to buy another 256GB SSD and RAID 0 it, or buy a single 512GB SSD to replace my existing 256GB one?

Space has recently started to become an issue because of my photography so my system drive only has about 25GB of space left on it!

Do your photos need to go onto SSD though? Fairly simple to mount additional drives / move default location of "My Documents" to another partition to make a seamless storage aggregate without going through a full install.

Good point that. Move your photos etc. onto some cheap storage.

If you're worried about editing speed then you should be able to set the temp location of the photo editing software to speed it up (or just move the photo you're working on onto the SSD).

The photos need to be on the SSD yes, I do a lot of photo editing and have a catalogue of thousands of raw images, having them on the ssd massively improves the loading times of images. At any time I might need to go into the catalogue to access an image from x date and time, and having them on the ssd makes it a lot easier.

Buy a second SSD, leave your current install as is and just combine the new SSD into your existing configuration with symbolic links / libraries etc...

I was wondering if a hybrid drive would be more suitable but clearly not if speed is everything.

I'm in a similar dilema myself. I've got a single Samsung 840 500gb that is starting to run out of space, it's not that easy to find another at a reasonable price to RAID though, so if I sold it I reckon i'd get £100 (ish) on the MM, so would cost around £180 to upgrade to a 1tb.

I've run RAID 0 several times when the SSD capacities were much smaller (and expensive) and they were fairly painless (apart from an OCZ drive dying!), you've got the minor irritant of the extra POST screen but that's about it.

I'm going larger single drive route I think.
