Should I downgrade my CPU?

Re-seated my CPU and HS again, applied the TIM like you said and my idle core temps have gone up by 7c in CoreTemp and 10c in SpeedFan :-(

The BigTyp is a bitch to fit with the striker becasue of the pipes around the CPU.

Oh well I give up for now

If your dont have confidence in this BigTyp cooler, makes sense to just grab a more suitable one. you have given it your best shot at least.
 
To be honest I have lost confidence in both the CPU and HS.

The bottom of the BigTyp seems to have small indents in it which you can feel when you run your finger over it. I put both the CPU and HS on a sheet of glass and everything looks ok, no obvious concaves.

Perhaps a good HS lapping is in order but I think I would prefer to sell my parts if I can and get a GO stepping Q6600 with a low VID and a TR Ultra 120V Extreme and start again.

The BT nearly ended up in pieces when I was trying to fit it anyhow!!

Better switch off now before my PC melts.

Put my QX6700 on e-bay and sold straight away for £240 :-)

Now need to buy a GO Stepping Q6600 lapped with low VID for £140 and a TR Ultra 120 Extreme HS.
