Should I finish my CCNA?

If you're doing network coding I think it would be a great deal of help. You would have insight into the major issues that affect online gaming such as latency, and how it could be rectified.
Which are things I've learnt on my degree course anyway. The focus of the CCNA is on the network itself, which isn't actually all that useful for writing software that works over a network.

Put it this way, I don't think a games studio would be particularly impressed by a CCNA. It would barely put you at any advantage over someone without one.

Been meaning to do this for ages myself but can't get the time to study - also need to update a Sun cert as well :( I didn't bother at first as CCNA was seen as an easy certification and ten a penny back when I did a course ages ago.

Networks wise, I was thrown in the deep end when I started this job and I love it, I've learned so much more than the ICND course taught me. You can't beat experience and tackling new challenges tbh. :D

I certified in March for CCNA and it was well worth it - even with a year's worth of practical experience it taught me lots. Also I got the Qualification :)

It lasts for 3 years. It's not as easy as people make out but the CCNP is harder and I'll be aiming to take this in the next year.

Do it if you've got the time :)
