Thinking about getting a cheap DS Lite, never had a hand held console before, what sort of decent non kiddy/girly games are about for it?

There's games like Tomb Raider and Assasins creed can't think of anymore off the top of my head.
Depends what you mean by kiddy really, things like scribblenauts and Pokemon could be called "kiddy" but they're great games.

I have one but cant say i use it much. Iv heard about scribblenauts though, so i might get it out from whereever its hiding.

The DS is really good. I actually prefer mine over-all to my PSP. GTA china town wars is good (although that is coming out on PSP soon). It depends what you mean by non-kiddy games? Would you consider Mario Kart a kids game becasue thats really good. The DS has loads of great casual games like Mario and Sonic Olympics but if its more serious games you want then a PSP might have more of what you want. A PSP is pretty much like having a PS2 in your pocket which sounds great but a lot of people (me included) find many of the games to just have far too much content to be fully appreciated on a hand-held.

There are loads of good games out there for the DS. New Super Mario Bros, Tetris, Ouendan/EBA, Meteos, CivRev, Zelda, Worms to name a few. I'll admit I don't use mine that much since I left uni as I don't do any travelling really now but I'd recommend a DS to just about anyone.

You're thinking is probably similar to a lot of people's until they actually get a DS and try some of the kiddy games for themselves.
I got mine just for RTS type games like Advance Wars, Age of Empires, even Civ Revolutions is pretty good
Then when you give the kiddy/puzzle games a go they're pretty addictive also, like Zubo, Brain Training, Super Monkey Ball. Even something like Drawn to Life.
Turn based RPG is also a bit of a specialty, like Chrono Trigger, Fire Emblem, Knights in the Knightmare and Shin Megami Tensei Devil.
Also with great games like GTA Chinatown Wars and the new Might and Magic game that's due... also get an M3 card or similar and use it as an MP3 and movie player too!

Yes loads of great games such as Postman Pat, Bratz, Noddy, Baby Sitting Sims and Pony Training. 
Get one, and get Advance Wars, Professor Layton, and GTA Chinatown Wars. Nice bit of variation, and all absolutely fantastic.
