mmmm that 1000 watter is a bit more than i intended to spend.Retired now and cannot see me splashing out on a 4090 anytime soon
But as you say it is `only` £30 more mmmm
Will have o think a bit more on this, thanks for the suggestions though :)

I will say I bought a 750W as "you'll never need more", then more modern GPU's started to have spikes in power consumption which made it more marginal. I'm currently using a 1000W which was just a little more for the headroom. Who knows what will be needed in the future or as I did bought a previous gen high end card for "cheap" 6950XT which needs more juice. I'd spend a little more and then you can just forget about it for another 13 years ;)

I changed a Toughpower bronze 875w - around 10 years old for a Gold Cooler Master 850w the other day after having a nagging doubt about using an older PSU and older tech.

No difference whatsoever funnily enough other than the fact that the new PSU makes a slightly different tone when under load. Probably didnt' need to bother changing! But then when the seeds are sown of spending more money on these forums.... :D

It's all a waste until it takes out your new shiny ;) The worse issue is if it introduces instability and you spend weeks chasing the issue. I think 10 years is a pretty good run.

opened the bag of cables and noticed a sticker on a sata power cable stating 3.3 ?
Whats this one for?
All fitted in now,few brown trouser moments.Thought that the cpu to mobo would not fit,was trying the psu end DOH :o
No floppy power so i will have to get an adapter for my fan controller
AND plugged the 8 pin and 4 pin cpu into the mobo (before i only had an 8 pin)....No boot or power.REAL panic time that was:(
unplugged the 4 pin and it has booted and ran 3d mark to test .seems ok so far
