I know it is a bit of a stupid question but I need someone to talk me into buying a PS3 so that I can play MGS, Uncharted and some Japanese RPG exclusive that sounded very intersting. Even though I owne a 360 and a PC I am not too excited, apart from a few cross platform titles, about what has and what is going to be released this year.

I was hoping for a price drop or decent bundle that included the above games.

As far as I know, no price drop was announced at E3, but there's anticipation for one over the next few months..if you can afford it and you want one, why not?

If you already have a 360 then NO!

the 360 is already better and its only going to get better because of that new motion camera tech which is coming out for it..

Did you even see this years E3? Microsoft owned Sony in everyway possible.

It sounds like you want one so just go get one :) Nothing has been announced about a price drop however.

I personally think that some of the PS3 exclusives look more interesting. I am not a fan of some of the big 360 exclusives and I mostly play shooters on the PC anyway.

This thread is only going to go one way.

I'm gonna say wait before you get a PS3. There's rumours everywhere that a price drop will be announced 'soon'. It would be a right pain to buy one today but then the price gets cut by £50 next month.

Well worth buying though, just wait if you can.

YEP, I wouldnt bother getting a PS3 if u have a super duper PC! , I was tempted though..................choice is yours wether u wanna be out of pocket, PS3 + Games 'n' all that jazz malarky! :)

I disagree; personally I've found a PS3 to complement my PC quite nicely; sports games, racers and fighters in particular work better on a console, while FPS and RTS games are better on my PC.

As the OP mentioned, some of the exclusives, such as LBP, Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles, Infamous and MGS4 are also excellent. The PS3 is the platform with most JRPGs, which the OP expressed an interest in. It really all comes down to whether he thinks he would spend time on it; if he does, then it's well worth the purchase!

As Streeteh says though, maybe wait a couple of months to see if word of a price drop leaks out. I wouldn't hold your breath though, and there are some pretty decent bundles around for well under £300 already.

Being serious now I think if there is going to be a price drop then it'll be announced @ TGS just before Uncharted 2, and if there really is a slim PS3 lingering behind the scenes then it would make more sense to wait before announcing it now to try and shift more of the old sku's first, so it depends on if your willing to wait really, owning a 360 and a PC I think you can wait it out tbh, should have more than enough to keep you going until September, by then we should know if there will be a price cut or not.

Some RPG? You're probably thinking of Demon Souls! Or perhaps Valkyria Chronicles. Both well worth considering. Also if you like your jRPGs, Tales Of Vesperia sounds good and I'm keeping an excited ear to the ground about FFversusXIII.

Theres plenty of good exclusives to keep you entertained and more on the way, which you normally wouldn't be able to get your hands on from having a PC/360 setup. I'd keep an eye out for a bargain or just hang fire for a bit to see if there is a price drop at TGS.

If I was going to go down the path of worthy stuff you can't get your hands on for the moment on your current setup it'd be:

Valkyria Chronicles - best thing to come out of Japan in a long long time.
Demon Souls - not gone hands on with this myself but its proved to a bit of a storming cult success. Been reviewed well too.
Motorstorm 1 / Pacific Rift - just pure arcade off road racing fun with no faff like weapons or tricks. Perfect. Looks stunning too.
Killzone 2 - Single player can't match up to something like Bioshock (my current benchmark) but the multiplayer has been the best FPS multiplayer I've touched on a console.
Flower - nice bizarre indie distraction
Wipeout HD - its Wipeout! Gorgeous game and nice price too.
Siren:Blood Curse - Survival horror action like it used to be done, nice if you're jaded by Resi 5
Warhawk - now I love this personally. Its not a technical showcase but its just pure online fun. Well balanced weapons and maps with a great sense of scale. Troops, tanks and air... its all covered.
MAG - this is coming soon, if Warhawk felt like a battlefield, I guess this will feel like a proper war! 256 online FPS battler with proper command structure and objective play. Keeping an eye on reviews for this.
Infamous - next on my shopping list. Plays like a dream, intuitive free running action, satisfying to pull off, pulls off a world not too dissimilar from the detail levels of GTA4. If you fancy Uncharted, then check this out.
Uncharted 1 & 2 - 1 certainly did the Hollywood adventure flick thing well. Good script, good acting, tight gameplay.
Folklore - Got a bit of cult status as far as being a bit different for an action jrpg. I've got this sitting about in my list of to play stuff.
White Knight Chronicles - Seems like its been pretty well received. FFXII-ish from the screenies I've seen with offline and online play. Waiting for the EU release.
LittleBigPlanet - dead cheap now, full of character

I mean thats off the top of my head of things I would consider. Other people might recommend stuff like Resistance 1 & 2 but I've not really played them and I've probably left some huge gaps in there, especially with the PSN content (things like Fat Princess, Pixel Junk games, SuperStardust).

Ive got both a PS3 and a 360 and wouldn't be without either but as there is the new "rumoured" PS3 slim out soon and the "rumoured" price cut I would be tempted to wait if i was in your shoes.

I bought a ps3 for xmas and its been a good buy. It sits above my amp and it looks good sat in the lounge. I also have a 360, the games are just good but as its white its sat in my office. I use the ps3 more as its conencted to my 43inch tv:)

Yep the game was Valkyria Chronicles. Many of those games on your list appeal to me. Historically the Playstation has more RPG's than the Xbox. I have not touched my 360 for 3 months due to playing cross platform games on the PC.
