It all depends on what you use your computer for? If it's general web browsing, office applications, email etc. I wouldn't bother. It can load game levels a lot of faster however if that's your thing.

If I had a spare 100 quid. I'd buy a second monitor and have a dual display. Much cooler and more useful than saving a few seconds.

This of course is only my opinion and what I would do. I've got two ssd's and one monitor. I know which I would rather have...

hmm now there is an idea i could get 2 more and do eyefinity :). (might get saving for that :P)

Just get one that has enough space for the OS (should speed up boot times a fair amount) - everything else can go on a regular HDD.

What's the point? Do you turn your pc on and off every hour and need to shave 20 seconds off your boot each time?

Unless you are getting a 120gb+ ssd I truely cannot see the point. The OS is going to take 30gb and 3 games can easily take the other 30gb.

Get one :)

Ignore boot times its still makes an amazing diff to the pc.

I resisted for ages due to price but was blown away by the speed difference with just normal usage. Installing software puts a smile on your face.

Worth every penny even at £200+ for 120Gb :)

Why spend £100+ just to make your PC a little but faster?

Invest it in beer or whiskey - it will make you PC seem faster (if you can turn it on), and you'll also have exciting adventures and meet strange and interesting people.

I intend to build a little gaming system when I get home in August, for £100 that's my top option. I already have a few mechanical HDD's lying around for extra storage.

Kinda like saying why buy a new gpu to run games faster?

You have never owned a ssd i am guessing?

Once you try you will be singing a different tunes just like the rest of us :)

Its a bit more than "a little faster"....pc is only as quick as your slowest compont....hd is the bottleneck holding everything up.

Kinda like comparing dial up and broadband :)

but isn't getting a 60gb ssd is useless for a gamer ? where you gonna put 20+ games & if using normal hdd as backup then games will not benefit from the speeds of the ssd at all.saving few seconds when windows boot is no big deal really.

Its not just boot times that improve...the os responds a lot lot quicker.

Even if games are on a diff drive and sytem doesnt boot any quicker its still a very very good upgrade and you wont go back to a mechanical drive as main drive...ever :)

It's funny, you buy an SSD and you sort of notice it's a bit faster, but it's difficult to quantify really... that is until you go and use a PC with a regular HDD, then it REALLY becomes obvious. So remember that :)

I waited till i got a 120gb ssd for windows and my games.. Don't see the point when people buy a ssd then put the games on hdd.. Really what is the point of that?? i think that's really silly.. imo

I guess the point of it is to speed up the OS and general performance. I guess those who don't play games are just really really silly in general to you?
