should i get an ssd?

I was also a bit dubious about having a ssd, expensive at the time, but it was best upgrade I made for a long time.

Prices are coming down on ssd's, so I'm waiting for the OCZ Agility 3 to arrive & get a larger capicity one..

would deffinatly go with an OCZ ssd tbh, so mutch reliability and yet so mutch speed, and for £99.99 Inc VAT you can't argue.

It's funny, you buy an SSD and you sort of notice it's a bit faster, but it's difficult to quantify really... that is until you go and use a PC with a regular HDD, then it REALLY becomes obvious. So remember that :)

I guess it's like when you got a busted exhaust and you finally get it fixed and you struggle to remember what it sounded like when it was blowing... then when your other half scrapes the exhaust on a kerb (somehow) and it starts blowing again, THEN you remember how bloody noisy it was! LOL

I've never had a small boot drive before but is it easy to move the user documents to another hdd? I remeber on xp it was a bit iffy where you had to reroot the way the pc directed things for everything. The reason I ask is because when I get a 128gb ssd I want to only have the things on it which will show a speed increase. So thats the boot and programs. No point bogging it down with documents etc.

Shifting folders on w7 is easy, just change the location in properties and you're done :)

P.s. If you bought 2 64gb drive you'd double the speed.

You can amend the relevant "Library" to include locations on other drives.

I recently added a 60Gb SSD to my sister's PC and used the above method to point the Documents/Pictures/Videos etc libraries back to her original HDD.

I'd definitely get one, I recently built my mate a Sandybridge based system with a normal HDD and it just doesn't feel as snappy as my Phenom II based system with an SSD.

I found upgrading to an SSD such a big performance boost over a regular HDD, even in general windows use, i dont think i would consider booting of a conventional HDD now because the drop responsiveness would be too notaceable.

I run my OS on my SSD and games of the HDD. It’s made a huge difference to how responsive windows is. The computer feels much less frustrating to use. Okay my games don’t loads up super-fast, but how many times do you hit a load screen, and when you do, does it really take that long anyway? Also fast load times online are usually pointless as you end up waiting for other players.

is it worth upgrading the firmware to my ssd drive
thanx
I keep my SSD upto date, they seem to get lots of fixes and performance boost out. It's no hassle if you have ACHI enabled.

But Yes, Buy an SSD!
