or buy it elsewhere? i played it at my mates on his xbox and it was fun, i then played on a mates pc and it was so awesomely good!

All i can think of is that steam would be downloaded very quickly, much quicker than the post especially around this time, however, i can be had for £30 elsewhere, also however, i found a tenner on the floor last week so i can sort of call it even if i bought it on steam, and it needs steam to play anyway.

What would you lot do?

Well, the retail version will be exactly the same as the steam version, plus a disc and case, if you're in to that, and it's cheaper.

Basically, you'll get a serial key in the box that you input in to steam thus adding MW2 to your steam account, you'll then have the choice to download it through steam, or install it via disc.

Depends if you want to save a tenner or not, go out now and buy it in a shop, and you'll have it quicker than steam then, cheaper too. Also I don't think you need the disc in to run it anyways IIRC.

i was in tesco once and a little boy in front of me got his mum to buy him mw2 for his eggbox. 60 smackers it cost, i said 'zomg' to myself in my head.

If you HAVE to buy it;

Steam tbh, saves on all the constant patching which you know will follow and you can use their valve anti-cheat.

You can enter the retail cd key from a disk and itll be on steam forever anyway and also you can install it via disks if you dont want to wait for it to download if you format PC (yes I know you can backup steam games..) :p

So if you reformat, then you have the option to either download via steam or install via disc?
I didn't know that.
Tried it with COD5 but it didn't work for me.

I was told there are no dedicated servers for MW2, is this true? :\

Just google "MW2 dedicated servers". :p And read the million odd pages.

*edit* But as a useful post, no, there aren't. And yes, it does suck. Laggy servers, host switching, matchmaking is rubbish. hackers galore as you can't ban them from servers, noob tube galore, as you can't restrict them. Heck, you can't even choose which map you play. I'm very tempted to go back to MW1.

£40 for a PC game? Holy christ!

I think the most I've ever paid for a PC game is £20, that was HL2 I think....

You could get a nice 8800GT for £40, save your cash and get the non-steam version then add it to steam.

I consider £30 too much even, I've bought around 10 games over the past few days of steam including GTA4, and I've just gone over the £30 mark...

Have you played it? I've been on mp for 5 hours now and it's perfect. So simple, just click on game type and play. Don't want the map just leave and press join again.

£40 was pretty expensive but there is essentailly 2 sp modes and mp, its like 3 games in one.

Playing it pretty much an hour or so a day for a few weeks.

IWnet is awful, it actually amazes me that they didn't include dedi server support. Seriously, how hard would it be? MW1 had a massive clan tournament following, because it was easy to sort servers, spot cheats.

I guess if you are happy with a dumbed down, high pinged (I'm sorry, but pings aren't great, soooo much lag spiking) un-customizable MP game, then you'll like it. But then you'd be much better off getting it on the PS3 XBOX360.

They actually took a step backwards with the MP. It is far from perfect.
