Should i get mw2 on steam?

Yeah the care package lag speed knifers are really annoying to the point you rage quit. It totally ruins any immersion tbh :(

That loadout makes me want to throw my PC out the window. Why, for the love of god, can't we have dedicated servers as well as IWnet, so we can ban certain weaps / loadouts, namely the knifing loadout and noob tubes.

because when they appealed to the "casual gamer" they got thousands of emails from people complain that the dedi servers where to hard to understand with their differing rules and scary map choice.

When you appeal to the lowest common denominator you have to cut anything that a 5 year old on a sugar rush can't understand.

I'd have no problem with the current MW2 MP, if they just added support for dedis too, appeal to both style of gamer. I believe (please stop me if I'm going too far, I actually have no definite knowledge) that a bunch of hackers have actually added DS support. If they can, why the heck can't IW?

I just told you why.

IW said they removed dedicated servers and the server browser and the ability to kick/ban because they received tens of thousands of emails from cod4 players saying that the dedi system was too complicated and they found the communities too difficult to get into with their regulars cliques and rules.

IW net and the p2p system cost IW considerable amounts of money compared to the low costs of just updating their old dedi programming.

That addresses the complete change to P2P over dedi, not a happy medium as I was merely suggesting

because your medium wouldn;t work.

You either have

A large number of community servers with a fixed ip/ability to connect too and has a community - something the "players" didn't want.

or

A small number of official servers run solely at IW expense. -something IW most certainly don't want.

Because no one is going to pay for a server they can't connect to regularly with their mates.

IW costs for cod4 dedi servers must have been low. U saved all your details on your pc, its not like bf2 were all the data is on the servers.

most of the cost in any dedi server game is paid for by the customers.

There are a small number of official servers around mainly for the beginning then the community servers take over.

BF2 raked in extra costs by making you buy through their preferred partners to have your server ranked.

Of which they got a cut and no one really played the unranked ones, so that will have offset any costs of stats monitoring. (which will most likely have been subcontracted out anyway)

I got it on PS3 when it was really cheap at the supermarkets on release.

Not my mates all have it on PC so they're pressuring me to buy another copy. For £40 I'd rather not tbh, I'm going to wait until there's a sale or something.

I think I'd pay £25 max for it over steam.

Have you played it? I've been on mp for 5 hours now and it's perfect. So simple, just click on game type and play. Don't want the map just leave and press join again.

Sorry but I want to slap you in the face. :o

Its awful. Pings are rubbish, lag, stupid lobby system where if there are more than 6 players you have to fudge it to get on the same server, AND the bloody cheats. There is no community in the game, every other kid spouting foul language even im offended by, knowing theres no comeback. If PC gaming is going down this route God help us. Will not be buying any more COD games unless they change it - they wont.

And for what its worth they have introduced this not to make it easier but so they can push paid for content in map packs and add-ons.

The good thing to come out of this will be that imo the game will get hacked to shreds and a dedicated server work around will come out, only problem is server companys wont be able to license it.

There are some places that are selling it for £25 at retail. I can't say which store it is, as it could be a competitor, though they tend to sell second hand stuff. I wouldn't pay full price for this either (and I didn't!)

That defeats the object of having fun. Spending ages trying to find a map you like because it selects it at random.

£40 was pretty expensive but there is essentailly 2 sp modes and mp, its like 3 games in one.

By that logic, Left 4 Dead 2 is 6 games in 1. You've got Campaign, Realism, Versus, Scavenge, Team Versus and Singleplayer... see the gigantic flaw in that arguement? If MW2 is anything like MW1 they used modified versions of the SP maps as MP maps and given everything i've seen, it is essentially a copy/pasted MW system with all the annoying bits made worse. Nothing about MW2 sets it apart from other games to justify the price tag, just IWs lust for money.

I'll take access to a list of servers that show me the map running, players, and ping before I've joined thanks very much. :)

Really only started the MP today and its gawd awful,
If you get in you get lag, most lobbys only work for 1 game, the countdown begins then you get pushed to another lobby and wait all over again. This is a major step back from the first MW.

Also i have been watchin quiet a few kill cams and i have to say most snipes that have hit me seemed way off when firing, there are loads of cheaters, and the usual abundance of tubers, did i mention lag..........

I did really enjoy the single player though

My Thoughts

Even in my first match, I saw signs of lag, just enough to throw me off the experience but it didn't stop play altogether. It was one of the snow levels and I must admit, the level layout was very good, lots of places to hide and get killed from!

I did enjoy it a fair bit to be honest, it's not all bad as I first feared, but I have to say, so far it's not worth their asking price, I'm so happy I found at a lesser price.

Left 4 Dead 2 has yielded more enjoyment as more of my chums actually bought that over MW2 on the PC (and we've had that for far longer, I only got MW2 last night, so maybe it's just early days) and even though we've played the same levels over and over again so far, it's been an enjoyable experience, even to the point of asking and re-enacting what would be the best music to have during a zombie apocalypse. (Nessan Dorma is the favourite so far....) :)

So far, not had the same thing with MW2, however most people I do know have it on the Xbox, therefore maybe that's where I went wrong, but to be honest, I didn't want to buy an Xbox just for this game. Maybe if money wasn't a problem I would probably go for it on there, as basically I asked about it on Xbox and the experience is not that different at all.

I personally wouldn't buy a game for more than £30, unless it's a classic, but i don't class COD Modern Warfare 2 as a classic, same goes for the 1st Modern Warfare as well, so no.
