Should I keep or return these trainers

Burn them, burn your feet and burn their offices.
It's the only way to stop this happening again.

any bad stiching etc though never settle for it, after a few months you will wish you had returned them at the start
 
I honestly don't know how people like this manage to function. The very action of going over your shoes like that is completely alien to me to begin with, but to then identify a defect that small and irrelevant, to then not know how to approach this situation, to needing to ask people on an internet forum what to do.

Seriously OP, how are you alive? How have you not drowned in a bath tub or eaten a cactus?

Shocking. I would fly to China and demand a meeting with the manufacturers management. Hanging is too good for them.
