Should I keep quiet, or let them know?

Hi,

My housemates and I have a moral dilemma.

We're paying for a broadband and tv package with a company, which we should be paying £41 a month for, that's what we signed in the contract.

For the past two months of our contract they've cocked it up and it says we're paying for TV only, without a broadband package - (actually getting 20MB). Plus they're giving us the discounts we were meant to have on the original TV+Broadband package, dropping the price to.
.
.
.

£4 a month for every tv channel and 20mb broadband.

I'm wondering if when we stop our contract they'll notice it and say 'Sorry but you owe us £300 or so.'

We expect to be with them for 10months, so thats £40 at the rate we're going when instead it should be £410.

The contract isn't in my name, so of course I say lets carry on the way it's going! :D I like paying my share of £1 a month instead of £10.25

Don't say anything, but have the money ready. It's likely they will notice and will want the difference. You can spend the money if they don't notice by the time you've moved out.

Are you going to be living at the address for a long time? Or is this a student house?

Keep quiet, if they don't notice before you move out and away then it's win win on your wallets :)

i'd set the money aside while you're in the contract, i'm sure they'd be within their rights to claim it if they noticed it during the ocntract, after the contract has expired however, i'd say it's fair game

It's a student let, I think it's a 12month contract - so it's probably worth letting it run till the end instead of cutting it short at 10months like they offered (pay a lower price £15 a month for the last couple of months). I'll have the money available whenever for my portion of the bill, would only be in the region of £100 or so.

I'll just leave it, it's not like it's my name on the contract :)

If it's with NTL then I'm not surprised, their billing department is absolutely atrocious. My discount for having phone+broadband continued long after I'd cancelled the cable. Plus various other accounting issues.
