I'd still recommend Zen if you can get it.

I have had Zen 500 FTTP for about 2 years and flawless.

That being said I've been with Zen solidly for about 15 years I would take some convincing to leave for another provider.

The likes of Virgin, Talk Talk and BT would have to pay me to use their internet.

It depends on the area you are in. I moved from FTTP to VM, and apart from ping times I haven’t noticed any difference, including gaming and Zoom calls etc.

Yeah it’s a bit far fetched some of the comments, making it sound like it’s trash everywhere when it’s not.
Online gaming has been fine for me. I do plan to go fttp though as it’s cheaper but not had issues with VM for along while now.

Yeah, I also game and haven’t had any issues despite the ‘ping penalty’. Modern tick rates of servers mostly negate slightly lower pings compared to say 10 years ago.

I watch Sky Sports, TNT, and the wife watches Netflix so it’s usually advantageous to get a package with a single provider and until recently some of the VM deals have been excellent.

I also wouldn't worry about slightly higher ping. It's not like the old days anymore, most games these days at best drag both players down to similar levels to make it "fair" or at worst just straight up give the advantage to the worst connection. I assume it's because a large amount of the playerbase are just connecting their console to the isp supplied router via wifi and hoping for the best. So any negative effects will just make them claim "bad servers" and move to another game, so the games pander to that now.

You can see it on Rocket League, one of the few exceptions that absolutely doesn't tolerate any sort of issues and needs a really stable connection. Week after week there are players claiming the servers are bad and their wifi is fine because it works with everything else. No troubleshooting, no testing, works with other games, so it's fine.
