Hi,

My uncle is getting rid of his mondeo, he says I can have it for nothing but it does need a bit of work needed to it. Its a silver 1996 mondeo lx mk2 1.8td is got a dent in the boot, had a few engine problems, needs new clutch, front windows needs some work on as they dont close sometimes.

so should it accept it as a run about car or is it more problems than worth?

cheers

A mondeo clutch change is quite expensive as they have to drop the subframe too. (Something like that anyway).

Unless you can do it yourself?

If you can do it yourself then why not. It's for free so it could be a little pet project for you.

I am personally not a fan of Fords and would not have one, but that is just me. :)

Take it.
If you cant fix it try braking it. Seklling the bits and making some cash :)

Absolutely!

Your on a win win situation. The cars costing you nothing, fix it and you'll get a reasonable profit if you sell it - more than you outlay to fix it I'd guess.

Im no mechanic so I very much doubt I can do the clutch myself. its got 40'000 or 60'000 miles on the clock cant remember.

Sell anything that you can. Pannels, Wheels, Door handels, Lights(expecially those ive found out :( ) Mirrors, bumpers, carpets, seats, steering wheel, engine parts of all sorts, the gear box, Air con. If its on the car you can usally sell it :)

Im not sure about other places in the uk that u can sell them to.

Ebay would be your best bet and maybe other forums :)

If your not handy with a spanner, then you could just put the whole thing on ebay. Someone will buy it either to fix or break for spares.

Depends if you have the time and space I guess, I certainly wouldn't want a knackered car on my drive for god knows how long. I can barely fit on it as it is! :o

well I work 8 till 6 weekdays so the only time I have for it is weekends, and ive only got a drive way so I will prob try sell the whole car or something.
