Should i put windows 7 on my notebook?

Hi all,

I have an Acer Aspire One KAV60 Notebook, it currently has windows xp installed onto it.

Should i stick with XP or ditch and put Windows 7 onto it?

You could put a Linux on it, say Pinguy.

Put windows 7 professional 64 bit edition onto it

but im wondering weather it will be able to run it or not

It depends what you want to do, if it's just browsing then go for a Linux distro.

Take a clone of your hard disk, e.g. with Clonezilla (free). Install Windows 7 as a trial (and SP1 for good measure), test out the performance and if it's good activate it and away you go. If it's not, restore your cloned image of XP and it's back to how it was. Simple

7 runs well on standard netbooks (1.6GHz Atom) with 2GB RAM. Don't expect miracles and you'll be pleasantly surprised

Edit: Be careful with Clonezilla. It is great, no doubt, but it can well and truly wipe your system drive if you tell it to by mistake
