Should I replace an ADSL modem with an ADSL2 modem ?

I've got a new router that's ADSL2 capable, but I'm still attaching it to an old ADSL modem.

The connection is standard Talk Talk broadband package with an actual connection speed of about 3Mbps, which is normal for the area.

Is there any point in replacing the ADSL modem, or is it just as good as an ADSL2 modem in this case?

This may be a silly question but I've just checked the state of broadband in my area and it does say LLU is in the area.

If you're using a non ADSL2 router, is an ADSL2 connection still being sent down the line and by not having an ADSL2 router, am I hindering my connection speed?

If it says enabled next to 21CN WBC status then the exchange is ADSL2

If it does say enabled you should always be using a ADSL2 router/modem.

OP - can you find and post the line stat's from your router?

If the current speed of 3Mbps is correct (ie it's a longer line rather than poor wiring or a bad line), then I wouldn't expect a huge improvement in connection speed just from moving from ADSL to ADSL2(+).
