I sold my old pc but it came back a week later bsod whenever anybody tried to log on,traced it back to hd which is a western digital 800 (80gb) pata drive.
Its 2 1/2 yrs old and still warrantied till end of year.
I used the wd diagnostic tools,it passed a quick test but has found bad sectors on long test.
Should i rma drive as is without trying to repair?.It caused major mf on my old pc and def wouldn`t use it as a primary.Bad sectors to me usually means drive is on way out.
I know, you`re probably thinking `tight git buy a new one` but this ones going in my friends pc which now only has a measly 10gb drive.I get old pcs fix em up and give em away to friends as basic internet machines.
Any experience with wd?
Cheers
