Then why do people harp on about it being so much more than a console then?
All I hear is
The PS3 has so much more:
It plays BD
Its wireless
Can be networked
You can surf the net on it
etc....
It only understand FAT32 FFS
won't upscale DVD's when played from HDD
Won't stream DTS
I could go
I'm not going to even entertain your BMW comment as its just ludicrous

They arent little mistakes dude, more complete misrepresentation of the facts.
The PS3 is now priced at the same point as the elite near enough, a arcade 360 is NOT a direct comparison to a PS3.
If you buy an arcade, and actually want to do anything other than play the arcade titles, you need an HDD, even for BC or scratching the surface of live, and unless you have it within cable distance or your router, you need a Wireless unit
All of which puts it within spitting distance of a PS3.
So why bother.

But nobody says that the PS3 also has the features of a fully-fledged media hub; you seem to be the only person who expects it to be one. The three criticisms you've mentioned aren't exactly common (two of them are new to me), so clearly they're not major issues.

Youve basically saying a fiesta is just as good as a lambo as theyre both cars. Think things through. Its obvious you dont like your PS3 and you seem to think it should be some sort of elite omg media server, which its not. Well it's like this the 360 is a unreliable noisy badly made piece of crap.
And the ps3 is not.
My point is.. its OK for people to spout off about how good the PS3 and what it can do.
But when it comes to critical analysis its clear its flawed in many ways.
For gaming its overpriced, Then people say it does so much more to justify this high price.
Thats my point.

Youre confusing me, first of all its a BD player and a 360, now its a HTPC youre comparing a PS3 to. Which one is it ? If youre saying a PS3 cant do what a HTPC does then mostly you are correct, if you are saying that a 360 and a BD player can do all that a PS3 can do then i feel ill have to disagree.
In the end the PS3 gives me things i cannot get from a 360 ie God of War, Gran Turismo, Uncharted and built in BD, wifi etc. In the same way others want a 360 to play Gears, Halo etc and dont want BD or Wifi and the extra cost is not justified.
I have never mentioned cars as Its a rubbish analogy.
I don't own a PS3 either.
I posted in the cinema section about getting a BR player and everyone said get a PS3 as its more than a BR player and console.
Well after looking into why would I want a PS3?

i'll agree the 360 has better social aspect but both do online gaming except the PS3 does it for free and indeed with Home it will easily equal the 360 social aspects... will be interesting to see what argument is used then...
If i have a gaming console being online is about GAMING first at its most basic level. Microsoft have said no you cant play a 360 game online without their permission and money paid toward them.
Sony have said - sure m8 on you go - playing online is free for you, have fun
