Should i try to play oblivion ?

Yes i got... the got hooked

I ended up doing every mission....... 100% competition took me like 100hours of gameplay tho (i would like to point out that took up most of my year)

ahhhh college the one place u could skive to play games all day.

the expansions are kinda cool and great mod community

You obviously haven't seen Lost In Translation! Absolutely nothing happens in that film, i kid you not.

it's true

yet i liked it, am i gay?

You actually liked it? Would you mind explaining why? My brother thinks it's the greatest film of all time (but then he's an artsy fartsy type).

Anyway, back on track. You should definitely try oblivion. I thought it was a great game with lots to do and places to explore. I got a bit bored after 120 hours play time though.

I normally have a very short attention span where gaming is concerned, but I managed to spend over 100 hours on this game.

Its certainly not bad, can sometimes be absolutely beautiful, and I found it very relaxing - just wandering through forests, picking flowers and stuff :)

There are plenty of mods which can change the game very much from its standard presentation.

Would have been nice if there had been a little more life in the game, and things like children, just to make it seem that little bit mroe authentic, but there may even be mods to fix that now - not looked in a while.

Worth a play if you have not tried it yet :)

Well basically what the title says. I remember when oblivion was first out i still had not the best of the pc's so i did play it. But now i was reading newspaper and there was oblivion add and small review on it and few screenshots. I played elder scrolls older parts and i quite liked it.

So what do you thing should i give it ago ?

Yeah, why not? :)

I found the talking bit (bribe/flatter) really boring. I guess people don't like the free roaming style, but I prefer it that way. ie FF7 you can do side quests as well as main quest.

A-B-C is way too generic and boring.

I would say yes, give it a go.

I bought the GOTY edition a while back and have racked up 40 hours so far and have hardly touched the main quest.

Not really a hardcore RPG person but I am enjoying it although one thing that is getting to me is that the caves and forts all look very samey.

I was looking at getting Witcher today but I am going to hold off until the New Year.

i cannot favour between morrowind and oblivion but there both the best single player games iv ever played and both win my heart every time i hear the intro music. truely brilliant games

Another yes vote here, id give it a go under 'vanilla' configuration, possibly with a few graphics mods if you have the hardware for it - get the idea of how to play before modding.

Word of caution though - do read up a bit on character creation and stats, cos i b0rked my first character trying to make an archery type but dosed up on heavy armour and too much magic skillz so ended up with a jack of all trades who couldnt do anything well!!

I'm pretty much in exactly in the same boat. I had a mediocre PC and have recently upgraded to a Quad-Core, etc. and have just installed the game last night. It's not bad actually though there is a lot of running around and what have you and there's a lot of should I go in here first, do the main quest bit next or just run somewhere random!

Certainly a yes vote from me! It runs perfectly well on Vista 64 as well (with no patches needed!).

Gawd, am tempted to dig this out and give it a go again. The problem is I always end up playing a thief because I want to nick the best armour.

another cuple of points to make about this game,

first, there is far too many oblivion gates, caves and ruins, like everywhere you turn there is another of something and every single one feels almost identical and because there is so many rather then every now and again exploring one atleast for me i ended up just ignoring them all as there was really no point in exlporing them other then to get a cool item, which if you lvelv up everyone else gets too.

although this was just for me maybe other people felt it too. it's like playing sims, you spend ages and ages making that perfect house, and then when you start getting into the game, ie get money, characters good job, smart etc then the game becomes extremely boring as there is no end, same with oblivion, you start rubbish, do loads to get your skills up, and eventually when the character start becoming strong, good armor i loose all interest and stop playing.

you have to play the game but as i said in a post above the game had so much possibilities and potential to be so much more then it was.

A word of warning, don't go overboard on the mods when you first start.

I tried it around a year ago, and decided that in order to maximise my experience I should make sure I get all the best mods installed. So I downloaded over a gig of mods, around 20 in total. I then found that I wasn't really sure where to start, in fact I probably spent more time hunting down mods than I did actually playing the game.

I think the problem was I got roped in by all those comments saying how mod x/y/z was 'ESSENTIAL' or makes the game 'INFINITELY BETTER'. Maybe the best approach would have been to just start up the game in vanilla mode, play for a while getting used to how the game works (bound to make mistakes and want to re-roll anyway I'd imagine), and then hunt down mods to specifically fix any gripes I found before restarting.
