Should I upgrade now or wait?

I am currently thinking of upgrading my GPU as my current one only manages an average 23 fps in Crysis. This is with everything on V High 0 x AA at 1680 x 1050. I don't want to go down the SLI or dual GPU card route, as a result was looking at the GTX 285. I would like to be able to crank up the AA and AF .Would this card provide a noticeable boost or would it be better to see what the GT 212 cards bring?

Gogo while they're still available! I just bought one to replace my broken 8800GTX.

The only forseeable problem with this would be wanting to go SLI some months down the line - but by that time you will probably want to move over to i7 anyways, at least I will.

Yep get the 280, the rest of the system will match it perfectly. The i7 is nice but not necessary atm.

I've seen a 4850x2 for a similar price. Would you still be taking the 280 over one?

Depends on what games you play tbh, the 4850x2 would be quicker on crossfire friendly games. 280 on the rest.

Maybe but the 4850X2 1024mb (ie 512mb per core) could run into problems in the future.

As far as Crysis goes, even a GTX 285 will be brought to it's knees by Crysis Very High with AA. I'm considering just waiting for the GT212, or even for the GT300.

Wait for something new, it's just not worth it right now. You've got a decent card as it is, so if you can hold out I'd do so. Most things should run fine with the GTS anyway.
