should i upgrade? or build a new one?

hey all at the end of the year im going to be getting some money, not sure how much yet but it probably a few of grand. i was planing to build a completly new system, but was wondering should i? or should i just upgrade my current system?
my spec now are;

intel c2d e7200 2.5 at 3.6
asus p5k pro mb
4 gig of ddr2 1066 ocz ram
gainward gtx 275 gs
corsair tx 750 psu
antec 902
ocz vendetta cpu cooler

pc will be used mainly for gaming; bfbc2, arma 2, maybe cod, also pc will be used for photoshop maybe a bit of 3ds max
what do you guys think?

I'd say go for a new system but save some of your components such as the case, psu and graphics card.

i was thikning that, but is it worth it? would i benerfit from pci-e 2.0? i have got the new build bug but i just want to know woul dit be a waste of money?

i don't reckon you'd see any noticeable difference with the pci-e 2.0.

if the bug is really biting then go with a AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core Black Edition or the i5 750.

case/psu and gfx card are fine.

maybe get an ssd drive.

I would advise not to go for a new Intel build with Sandybridge being brought forward to this year. There really is'nt anything wrong with what you have now.

I noticed my card performed better in PCI-e 2, very very marginal gain.

Graphics wise what I suggest you consider is 16 PCI-e 2 slots, not 8 and versions like the P55 chipset has for Intel, perhaps an X58 motherboard with Intel 930 CPU with 6 gig of RAM?

Oh importantly consider what size monitor you use, a 30 inch monitor would suit an ATI 5870 or Nevidia GTX 480 best etc. 275's (like you have now) 24 inch or lower.

why not an intel build? sorry for my ignorance but whats sandybridge? and ive always had intels not to sure about amd, and at the mo i have a 22 inch monitor, i know my sys at the min is ok but i really wanna play in high graphics so i thought that prebuild sys was good

Sandybridge is not yet released. It is similar to the socket 1156 I5's and I7's, it is Intels mainstream solution, but not out till end of the year.

X58 is an Intel motherboard and the CPU (I7 930) is also Intel.

Sandy bridge is the new micro architecture coming at the end of this year from intel. Intel are full of good quality in my opinion and I see no reason not to go for them.

Just to expand on that bit as i've noticed its a bit vague. A microarchitecture is the way a processor is designed and usually as the new ones come out the smaller they get. The current intel one is Nehalem which features the current i-series and the xeons.

If you are looking at doing a build at the end of the year, wait and see how good Sandy is. If you get some cash before then, a 5870 might be a good investment.

Technology moves pretty fast though, make sure you check in closer to the time. Anything we tell you now is likely to be redundant/altered in a few months.
