Should I upgrade to a GX2?

I was looking into the eVGA model GTX as it was a lot faster than the other models which I thought was a little strange?
BFG and EVGA are the best Nvidia brands on OcUK right now, in my opinion. :)

The EVGA KO models look great.

I've not had any problems with XFX stuff before... Must be a one off bad batch or something...
Nothing wrong with XFX products specifically, just their customer support is dire.

They also happen to have the highest failure rate of any company for certain product lines - althought I doubt thats a problem with the 8800 series atm as they will be basically the same cards as anyone else has.

Aye, that was just when the 7900GT fiasco was happening I think.

Their 8800 Series cards are absolutely fine from what I gather.

I work in retail, can't name where I work as they could be seen as a competitor :D (and no I don't work for a certain infamous UK highstreet chain) and it wasn't just the XFX 7900GTs that had a high failure rate.

I know, it was all of them. But XFX handled the returns particularly badly.

this threads gone off topic now, it was about an XFX GX2 :) think its time to let it die a death
Oops, yeah we did take it a little off-topic. I think I'll quote my first post. :)

Yeah, if you're spending that much then there's no point in getting anything other than an 8800GTS.

Save your money for now, see what R600 has to offer, and get an 8800GTS/GTX if you're unimpressed. :)
I'd also like to add that R610 and R630 are coming out at the same time as R600, and that the 8600Ultra and 8600GT are also on the way along with the rumoured 8800GTS with less memory. So there's plenty of choice. :)

A GX2 is literally an nVidia SLI setup that fits in one PCIe slot. So if a game doesn't support SLI (or your drivers don't support the game) then your card will run at about half capacity. Thankfully, programs like http://www.nhancer.com/ can help you get SLI working with practically all games.

Personally, I bought a GX2 just over a month before the G80s came out (for the same sort of price) and I regret it like a mofo. :o I didn't know anything about the state of PC hardware at the time and I just went for the "fastest" thing out. Oh well. ¬_¬

Ulfhedjinn - sorry my statement was a bit misleading the way I worded it - what I meant was - we saw quite a high return rate of other XFX products not just the 7900GT in comparison to the return rate for similiar/same products by other brands... actually I don't think we ever stocked the 7900GT, we tend to cater to the budget/"average" consumer end of the market.

Have no idea what XFX's returns/customer service, etc. is actually like other than what I've heard here as damaged/returned products where I worked were just shipped back to the main DC and handled from there.
