Hi all,

I have a Hanns-G HC194D and am using it with a standard monitor cable, does anyone know if I would see a bettter picture with a DVI cable (not that I am compaining - I think the picture is superb).

My graphics card has a DVI connector so was just wondering - it seems odd to have a modern screen and a modern graphics card with a ropey old cable connecting them!

If you have a DVI cable/connection you should be using it in preference to a VGA cable. At the moment you have a digital output (Computer graphics card) and digital receiver (Monitor) and there's an Analogue cable connecting the two. The signal is converted to analogue to allow it to travel along the cable and then converted to digital again to be displayed.

Each conversion create small amounts of signal loss which impact the overall quality of the picture.

Therefore you may see a small improvement but in reality you'll probably not notice a difference but if you have the ability you should use DVI in preference to VGA.

That is what I was thinking, due to the conversions you mentioned. However, reading about it it does seem that in some cases the difference is hardly detectable. I was wondering if anyone else had the same monitor and could comment before I attempt to figure out what sort of DVI cable I should invest in!

Been doing some research on the web, does a dual link DVI-D cable sound right?
