Should I Use Spare RAM?

Hi all. I have an 8Gb kit (2x4) of DDR3 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 RAM kicking around (Corsair Vengeance) and I was wondering if it was worth adding to my system to take my overall RAM to 24GB. (I have two spare slots).

The existing RAM is DDR3 1866GHz 9-11-9-27 (Patriot Extreme). I understand that the RAM would only run at the lowest speed but would they work together or would the overall slowing down not be worth it?

Whilst 16GB is plenty in general I could use the extra 8GB for Cities Skylines. :)

Also; I notice that CPU-Z is reporting my RAM timings as 11-11-11-28. Should I change those settings to 9-11-9-27?

Cheers.

Also check that your current RAM is also running at stated clocks in CpuZ (should show 933MHz). 11-11-11 raises suspicion that your memory is not using the XMP profile and instead runs at default JEDEC clocks.

Unless you are regularly running out of RAM and hitting swap, there will be no benefit in adding that kit. Overall it will slow down.
