Should I wait?

Thinking of buying the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750

Was wondering if it'd be worth my while waiting for the Pheyrn (?) cores to be released next year, any thoughts? Is the E6750 good for the £125 odd quid?

It's great for £125. The chip it replaced (E6700) is still about £200.

If you can wait then do so. Tho you'll be more than happy with the E6750.

I would wait. From what i've heard the penryn cpus will be released on November 12th next month.

Possibly.

Tho the first generation Conroes didn't drop in price when the updated 1333mhz ones were released.

Expect the new Penryn chips to replace the existing G0 CPUs in the same way that G0 replace the orginal C2Ds. As Cob points out this didn't make any real difference to prices.

Anyone who already has a C2D or later model of a A64 should be waiting for Nehalem.

I have an athlon 4600+ 64x2 atm, and it rocks, but one of my friends is intrested in buying up my rig as he dosnt need a super-duper top of the range pc, and, well, I like to have a 'better off' pc, so was looking at upgrades. Think I'm going to get a Gigabyte DS4 to pair it off with, says it supports the 45nm cores, so it should do me well into the next release.
