Should there be a limit on the number of tests people can take?

I don't see the point in a limit, it'll just give people another reason to drive without a license. Also as many people have pointed out some of the worse drivers are those who passed their test first time are often terrible drivers.

Personaly I think they should abolish the automatic license (except for the disabled), if you can't use gears you obviousely don't understand how a car works.

I also think they should make the test more relistic and make you take it in a Ford Transit sized van.

The theory test is changing at the beginning of next month.
Nothing major to the knowledge side of the test although the "Hazard perception part is going to be more difficult to pass.
You need to get a lot more points from the hazards - I can't remember the exact change but you will need to score a lot higher in that section after the 1st of September.

Due to the death of my father my mum is currently in the process of learning how to drive.
She's 58 and basically she needs to be able to travel.
She is learning in an Automatic car and just wants an Automatic license.
She is not disabled but why should she need to go through the hassle and increased complication of learning how to use gears/clutch etc?

I don't see how banning Automatic Licenses will help in any way.

What tha??? Ban automatic licenses? That just makes no realistic sense, you don't even make a real point as to why it should be banned...

Surely by using an automatic thats a few things off your mind when your driving, I know it becomes habit after a while, but being able to focus more on the road and the problems that are or could be around you is important?

You don't really need to understand the workings of a chair to be able to sit in it, you don't need to be able to understand whats going on inside your computer to work it... why the hell does it make any difference whether or not you use automatic or manual??? Its enough that people who haven't learnt manual can't drive manual and are stuck with auto's unless they retake the test.
