Based on the back of this thread:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18484934

I want people to vote on whether they feel we should close all of the PYPH threads.

This would cover the following threads:
Post Your Picture Here
All the Theme threads (People/Nature/Macro/Landscapes/etc...)

It would not include the Mobile phone pics topic.

If the vote suggests you do want these topics closed, I'll go about sorting it out to get it done.

Close the generic one and reorganise the rest.

I would like a themed PYPH sub forum with themes:

I’d leave the gear as it is. Free posting is better than having a handful for massive threads.

a more structred forum would be much better, just look at TP, its much easier to get around.

I doubt there will be a new forum out of this. I'll make that clear right away xD

My view is we may as well see how it goes to be honest as well.

Worst case scenario, is 6 months down the line we realise we need the PYPH thread back, but with added critique rules. Or even two threads. One where it is made clear that there will be no critique and one for critique.

NEW IDEA

Out of interest what would people think of a slightly new setup?

Two PYPH threads -

One for 'critique' you are required to give solid critique on a shot if you want to post your own image.
One for casual images, happy, random shots that don't deserve their own threads.
Close the themed threads, and encourage people who have 'sets' or even frequently produce a certain type of image (Scott and his studio shots, An Exception and his wedding shots) to create either their own respective image threads for themselves, or a thread per set?

I found Raymond's 2010 wedding shot thread. Seemed pretty good. I also found a thread where he liked HDR :D

As for the comment regarding people posting wedding photos, there's plenty of photographers who dream of doing weddings, and the knowledge is massively useful I feel.

Nothing if you don't want to. Tbh I post those threads because if I'm not busy, I just like sharing my pictures. If you see future threads of mine with the title "some pictures from a wedding last we..." you will know to avoid it if it doesn't interest you.
Tbh I post them not even looking for critique, yet I did actually find the feedback useful. Also unless I'm just posting one or two, it feels like I'm telling only part of a story by posting part of a set.

Lastly it's easy to cherry pick your strongest work and post that, but tbh that's not where I'm really looking for feedback. I find it far more useful when my weaker work is pointed out. Sometimes your eyes see what they want to see, and it helps when there is a general consensus pointing out picture 'x' sucks.

And others, actually appreciate them :)

Keep posting :)

I find it ironic that the issue here is that the forum is going into decline and some members seem to be saying 'X should stop posting lots of photos for critique'

It's fairly evident that it's split quite significantly here.

64 seem to want to close at least the PYPH thread, and 52 say keep them all open.

I'll contact the Mods regarding best way forward.
