out of interest what do you rest the mouse on while playing BF2 or any other games for that matter. As im tempted to move my Pc onto my TV setup but the biggest issue is what to rest stuff one while playing games..

Just use the wireless mouse on a mousemat placed on the sofa.

i need somthing a bit better better as i need it for work as well.

My mate bought 1 of those TV/Sofa trays from IKEA i think it was it sits over your lap and he uses that.I find it more comfortable my way but each to their own i suppose.
