Show me your MPV please

Another vote for the Estima here. I've had mine for about 3 years now and it's been great. They are absolutely loaded with kit.

When I got mine it was either a poverty spec million mile Galaxy/Sharan/whatever or an amazingly well specced lower mileage Estima. OK, so the Estima was a bit older but so what?

My 2.2TD has:

8 Seats with loads of different configurations.
Dual Front/Rear aircon.
Hot/cool box.
Electric everything including seperate rear 'moon roof' and front sunroof.
Electric curtains all round.
Parking sensors.

The list goes on.

It does drink a bit though, that's down to the weight, the 4x4 drag and the Autobox. I get around the 25mpg mark.

Someone help me out here, Previa, Estima, Lucida...what's the difference?

Is there anything I should be wary of before looking them up?

apart from high running/insurance/repair costs.

the Previa is the UK version.
in Japan there were a couple of slightly different variants.
as for high repair costs i'd remind everyone thet they're Toyotas and as such are VERY reliable.
BMW aren't noted for cheap parts yet that doesn't stop many of the members in here buying them.

EDIT,
try this link.
plenty of info.

Previa is the UK version.

The Estima is the Jap import version and comes in three variants which are known as the Estima, Estima Lucida and Estima Emina.

The main difference between the 3 Jap variants is that the Lucida and Emina are around 110mm narrower and 70mm shorter than the standard Estima, which is the closest model to the UK Previa.

See here.

great minds think alike

:D

With regards to reliability, as TDS said they are very reliable being a Toyota. Having said that, I did have to have the auxillary drive coupling replaced last year, it cost about £150 fitted by the garage I originally bought it from. That's a fairly common fault, listen for a knocking at tickover and low revs.

Other than that though it's been spot on, never missed a beat.

Just stuck a deposit down on a 1.9 JTD 110 ELX Multipla

64000 miles 2001 reg for £4.000 (trade)

Does anyone know if service manuals are available online? or a list of parts with codes? I need to replace a bit of trim in the boot.

cheers!

i have to say that the Multipla is fantastic at doing it's job.
personally i think it looks.....different, but as a car it does it's job well.

The only thing about the estima etc imports are the cost of parts if they do go wrong and finding someone willing to do certain jobs.
My uncles headgasket went, getting a replacement engine worked out about the same as getting the headgasket done.
Exhaust parts and suspension parts are also pretty pricey, from what ive sold at work anyway.

Having had a good look around the Multiplas fitted the bill, looks are unimportant to us and the rear seats in most 7 seaters are a bit more awkward to reach with a car seat than in the Multipla (3 in the back).

I just need a service manual now :)
