How does the iMac handle your photography work? As I am thinking of getting the base model 27" iMac or should I stretch to the quad core? But like save money that don't need be spent....

What camera do you have and do you shoot in RAW at all, from what I have heard all the 27inch models are amazing if you want the quad core it's down to you, am on a 3ghz dual in my iMac and it can handle anything I throw at it with speed remaining.

I also use my iMac for photography and its fantastic! I use aperture 3 and CS5 without fault it is fantastic! I have the entry level 21.5" and it is waaay quicker than the MBP I had before it. 100% recommend to anyone!

Yup, I use LightRoom 2 and CS5 on my 20" 2.66ghz model and it's perfectly fine. Only thing I haven't got around to is upgrading the RAM...probably should :p

Yup I shoot in raw with a canon 5d mkII a lot of people say i wont see a speed different on the quad core with using aperture and cs4 soon cs5 or are they talking rubbish.. I just like to save as much as i can but if quad is going to be a much better system for long term then I may try and stretch but i did set a budget to 1400k

Yep, same here. My 21.5" seems to handle everything I throw at it with ease and using Aperture 2 for photography. I suppose it really comes down to whether you want the bigger screen the 27" has to offer.

Either way both the 21.5" and 27" are lovely machines. ;)
