Show off your VR space!

Since I'm going through the process of clearing out our "room of shame" (the room full of boxes after you move house) so I can move my computer from our shared study to the much larger room I thought it might be a good idea for people to show off their play areas.

This older image shows off my current rig / setup but minus the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive - but it's unchanged.

For seated stuff I've got a couple of position I put my chair in to play flying or racing sims:

With everything pushed to the side I get 2m by 1.6m of playspace in the middle of the room:

I'm moving to this room - 4mx4m of pure VR awesomeness! I might even have to sell tickets for admission! :D

As its name suggests though, I've got a bit of work to make it usable!

Nice thread idea :)
I currently have a completely blank canvas for my main bedroom as completely by chance I've had it completely replastered so had to clear it out before hand. It's now an enticing large space just crying out for room scale VR...

I haven't pre-order the Vive yet, as I am probably going to wait a bit and will likely to upgrade my TV together as well. Anyway, here's the room I will most likely be using the VR in...will need to think about how to make it more spacious, especially with my TV and speakers and all that lol

Shifted some stuff around (instead of clearing out! :) ) and now I've got this to work with!

I mention on it in another thread but having this much space really isn't necessary. Moving from a much more restricted space to something as large as this makes little difference when you actually start playing a game as the built in mechanics to teleport around are made to be super convenient.

Good fun for a little gimmick, day to day stuff I hardly notice the difference.

Put this together at the weekend.

The unit itself is the same depth as my desk so when I push it against the wall it doesn't impede on the VR space. Nothing too fancy and kind of made it up as we went along.

Plan is for a second keyboard and mouse to sit next ot the SideWinder on the desk then put it all into a powered up so there's one cable going from the unit to the computer.

USB power is a bit of an issue when you're trying to run 2xVR headsets and about 8 peripherals!

I posted this on the Vive thread before I had received mine but the anticipation at least inspired me to do a bit of decorating. Plus I removed the old manky carpet and laid down some new hard flooring. I also installed some down lights as well so I could remove the center light in case of accidents!

Then to maximise the space by another foot or so I also built a new computer desk into the corner of the room and made it fully suspended so it was easier to work on and clean around my PCs.

Only problem now is that I still only achieved a 2.6m x 2m play area and as already mentioned that can end up triggering the chaperone a lot in some titles and negates some titles which recommend a bigger gaming space.

So far I found that disabling the chaperone system on games that don't require any drastic quick movements are fine. I just switched on the floor space markings so I can see where i'm free to move.

I wish I had a VR space, I do not have enough room to do much in here! Just about stand up and turn around or move 1 feet in each direction!

I was thinking of building a wall mount for my PC, and tonight down the desks / mounting screens on the walls to save room.

I am so stuck on where to begin though, just so many horrible messy cables, my cable management is, erm non existent...

Too much crap in a small room. Basically my computer room is the box room in our house, so it is small, heats up like crazy and I have no idea what to do!

I have been standing up playing some games, and frequently bashing my elbows into the wall and bashing into things...

In fact I can't even get the room in a picture it is so cramped lol.

I initially had my Vive in the computer room but if you look at the top of the picture, thats the only area I was able to use after removing the gaming chair and the steering wheel, I only just attained the minimum space required for stand up gaming.

After too many bashed knuckles and clobbering my knees on furniture, last week, I decided to use the headset in my living room but leave the pc in the computer room - it would stick out like a sore thumb otherwise.

Following the threads concerning the best wat to extend the vive into another room, I bought the cables as indicated - all 3m from the box to the headset - thankfully, they all worked with no artifacting, so drilled an hole into the living room and led the cables through the living room, it all works great now, plenty of room to move around and no bashed ankles.

However, two problems - I'd love to hook the 50in tv up to the computer but can't risk flailing wrists smashing the screen so I bought a 2in polystyrene sheet to cover the screen when gaming, also I can't extend a small monitor into the living room (which is what I originally wanted) enabling observers can see what's on the vive, for some reason, the remaining 2 dvi sockets on my R9 390X graphics card won't work with anything more than the gaming monitor and vive headset alredy connected up,hope to resolve this soon.

Some nice spaces. Mine is really bad at the moment, but I am in the process of cleaning up and will post a picture when it's done. Got the Rift, so don't need much space for the time been!!
