Show us you vista game browser!

The game explorer is the single most annoying misfeature of vista. I love Vista on the whole, but the game explorer has nearly made me go back to XP on more than one occasion. I could ignore it if games hadn't started installing shortcuts ONLY there. It drives me crazy!

Why  ?
What's wrong with it, seems to work fine for me?

I really like looking @ the box art/ nicer icons instead of some tiny pathetic icon :p.

But then again I use xfire to launch most of my games, but the game browser too !
Supcom and Company of Heroes work perfectly for me.

My op was a year ago, Nvidia didn't have the greatest vista x64 drivers back then :p...
I'm sure those 2 games would work perfectly now.

Here's mine, i never really used the vista game browser until i found an app to manually edit and add games to your list which do not automatically get added on install. (note the steam games having seperate icons now)

And for those interested this is the Vista Game Explorer Editor App

Took a bit of messing around to get a nice Steam link in there, also had to add my own image for Homeworld.

Supcom: Crashes, due to nvidia drivers, nvidia has forgotten about geforce 6xxx and 7xxx users like me....

CoH: Freezes, randomly, same reason as above.

Both games are rock solid in xp for hours though.

both games are also known to hit the 2gb limit, and with vista emulating video ram it happens a lot sooner ;)

Can be fixed though, if you have 64 bit 4gb + then you can easily modify them to be large address aware, I have and supcom is rock solid 8 player 1000 units each 81x81km map after 6 hours.

EDIT 2: Note that this thread is a year old, many of the games I marked work fine now in vista or I don't have them installed any more.

That's prolly what happened though ages ago.
Gotta reinstall em though in vista as my xp is borked for games, vista is my only stable gaming platform atm :p.

Edit had a play with the Game browser editor and now it's like this:

Company of Heroes works great for me on Vista 64, 8800GTX. Have you patched yours?

And yes, COH is one of the best RTSs ever, especially for mutiplayer :)
