Show us your boxes !!!

I think the problem with this is that it takes something away from the photography itself.

Do you see painters saying "Post all the boxes your paint brushes came in".

And it's not even geeky/technichal as it isn't equipment that someone has made, it just purchased.

Funny thing is, are these people with all this equipment good photographers?... I mean the box photos themselves are mostly pretty poor, even for photos of boxes.

Quite funny really. lol

I like womans ass! so you can't really blame someone who likes having loads of boxes!
most random statement ever.

oh and that is a rather hefty collection of canon whoever's lenses they are, if I get DSLR anytime soon, I'd only really want a Sigma 10-22mm, 50mm 1.8 and something with a bit of length. :p

I see where you're coming from but you can't apply that comparison to Photography.
It's like you wouldn't get a writer comparing paper or ink quality but painters discuss paint quality ;) yada, yada ......

That really is an absurd amount of lenses though lets be honest!
I disagree. Pro's like to have a lens at almost every range possible to maintain the highest level of quality they can. Looks to me like he has a full super wide zoom to super telephoto zoom kit and, a super wide to a super telephoto Pro prime kit

Don't forget, he has a 3 body system. And then a G5.

I disagree... the guy must spend his life changing lenses! Why not get a great lens for each range.. wide angle / prime / telephoto and spend more time with technique rather than money on lenses.

P.S even the cow at the top left is looking at all those boxes and thinking what a moron this guy is and that his money would be better spent sponsoring me :D

I hate half the people in this thread.

That is, unless they suddenly want to SHARE! Then I will love them (especially the people with: A studio, L glass, Flash units, models.

That is all (for now) :D

So hes a moron for buying all that gear. however the money he spent should be donated to you for the same thing..

Doesn't matter what you have. Nothing beats a Prime!!!. I would/am going to do the exact same thing.

If I win the lottery, I'm going out and buying every camera in the range, and every lens there is in the L series. Then send them all back to Canon to test for flaws. Over and over.

But my main collection will be for my camera :D

There's nothing wrong dicussing paint quality for painters... but this isn't a lens discussions... it's just showing off.

Nothing wrong with that either of course. :) but isn't it better to show off what people can do with the lenses (e.g. photographs) rather than the lenses themselves?

I am quite glad this thread has been made. It just goes to show that people must buy 'L' lens' for their willy waiving attributes over their image quality. As soon as someone aquires one there is always a thread 'I am an L user now' or 'I have joined the club'. Well f'in done, does it make you a better photographer? Did the stupid price tag warrant the usage that you will get out of it? Will it improve your sales/business? I know I am ranting, probarbly with lost cause. Dont really give a toss about how many boxes people have and what was in them. You should be out there with your camera taking pictures, not making box castles in the kitchen being a smug ****.

Sorry about the rant, it just ticked me off a little.

King.

I think it's just a bit of fun and willy waving. So what if the guy has all those lenses, it's his money and he can spend it in whatever manner he sees fit. If he's proud of the collection and wants to show it off then good luck to him.

To question whether or not it helps him take better pictures is irrelevant. Not everyone who drives a ferrari is Schooey.
