Isn't that one of those ebay keyfobs you can get? Thinking of getting one with a CL kit for mine as it has no central locking or keyless entry.

Nope.

Yes, it's for the immobiliser, you stick that into a port on the dash so it can read the code, then you remove it and it gives you 15 - 20 seconds to start the car using the key.

Nope, you need to remember the 944 went out of production in 1992, most cars didn't even have immobilisers!
