I half regretted buying TV shows when they were first released as they seem to bring out a all in 1 boxset at the end. Friends, Buffy, Angel, Will and Grace, West Wing (though missing season 7), Ally McBeal.

Therefore from now on for shows that I really like i might have to use a bit of self control and wait a couple of years until they do the boxset thing. The problem with that is I am up to season 6 with Seinfeld already and have 3 seasons of that already.

On the flip side i find a lot of multiple season box sets don't come in sturdy packaging that will last a long time. I know the Angel one isn't the best and the Twilight Zone and Alias ones look to be having issues. :)

Raymond, Mohinder... Nice collections :)

My collection isn't that big (see sig), I must add my Friends DVD's though. I don't really buy TV episodes, download them tbh, but I had to make an execption for Friends :D

Never understood DVD collecting , once I have seen a film I have no desire to see it again

The DVD's that I buy are usually either: Horros, or Classics/Cult films (i've got a couple of others, but they're just great). I can usually watch these again and again. And when they only cost a couple more pounds to buy rather than watch it's quite a good deal.

With the exception of films and series i know i would definitely watch again, i agree.

It just seems a massive waste of money to keep so many DVD's and use them as some kind of ornaments! ;)

The thing about a dvd collection is, one day (soon?) it will be out of date when we are all using either HD or Blueray like, VHS is now pretty much unused. For me the cost of keeping my collection up to date isnt worth it.

I'm not really one for TV series :/

Family Guy, Spaced and Goodness Gracious Me are mine. Sex and the City, The Mighty Boosh and Six Feet Under are Law's.

It won't be like that for most TV shows due to them using a video source rather than film. The only way would be to re-create the visual fx, which would cost A LOT of money.

Besides the improvement from VHS to DVD is massive both in picture quality and shelf space size. I'm sure a lot of people won't bother upgrading more than their favourite 10% of their collection. I know I won't anyways :)

I found the plot to be quite engaging

What? Xenia Seeberg in the later episodes > that one with the blonde hair ;).

I thought Lexx was great. Such complete trash, it's a guilty pleasure. The combination of the budget effects, bad scripts and the fact it didn't take itself seriously. Really can't beat a program concept of a hot reptilian sex-slave, a gay robot head and a dead Adam Ant lookalike assassin (who the gay robot head happens to be enamoured with) travelling about inside a giant space insect.

Genius.

I see very little advantage of upgrading to HD-DVD/Blu ray in the next 5 or so years, blu ray and HD-DVD machines will be able to play DVD's.

Yep and the Producer, Director and Editor... Plus most of the Crew.. if you've ever seen an episode!... Think "The Cronicles of Riddik" on Speed!.. :)
