Shar pei are getting quite popular as a breed, they are a bit marmite (love or hate them) but i highly recommend them.

Love all dogs, especially pups but definitely going to get a rescue dog when I get one in the not too distant future, I think dependent on the nature of the dog I got I may then get a pup at a later date

There's something about a hound which when they make the connection with you as their master, it's a loyalty that lasts a lifetime. A pup is a handful, frustrating sometimes as dachshunds in particular are more stubborn as a mule but very rewarding. Any dog big or small deserves at the very least the time and effort from it's master for a hound will never let you down. (Odd poop on the floor mind you) You can have a bad day out in the big bad world yet there's a guaranteed wagging tail and happy hound to greet you on return. Excellent stress relief !!!

I've always had family dogs so I'm no stranger to that, but I'm only just at a point where I can take on the responsibility of one of my own.
