It was always possibly in XP to display exactly the same on two screens at the same time.

Basically I want to be able to turn my TV on and watch a film on it (PC is attached to the TV using a VGA cable).

Is there any way to do this in Vista, I can only find the option to extend the desktop.

Thanks.

It will clone but only if the res is the same on both screens, not too common so not the best solution. Whats wrong with extend? Just drag the video player over to the second screen and maximise.

If you are using an Nvidia card, install the newest drivers available & then go into control panel & select "Nvidia control panel" within there go to "Setup multiple displays" & there should be an option to clone your display :)

No idea how to do it if you have an ATI card though.

Hope that helps.

ati is pretty straight forward too.
just look in the control panel of your graphics card......its actually very straight forward

It's so I can watch films on my TV from my computer. Extend is very inconvenient when I don'#t have the television switched on because I can lose documents if I drag them to the left.

I tried cloning but as people have said it defaults to the monitor with the lowest resolution, which sucks.

Is there any other way I can easily do this while mainting my monitors resolution?

Turn off the second display when your not using it? You can set up hotkeys to switch between monitor layouts in both ATI CCC and the Nvidia equivalent. I use htem

Alt+Shift+1 = 1920x1200 Main/1280x720 Projector Extended
Alt+Shift+2 = 1920x1200 Main/Projector Disabled
