After the Boro v Man U match caught on the microphone in the background of the Southgate interview (I've fully starred out after pasting but link has partially starred out, hope this is okay). :D

Lord Ferg: "******* *******."
Geoff Shreeves: "Don't talk to me like that."
Ferg: "**** off to you."
Shreeves: "Don't talk to me like that. Don't even think about it."
Ferg: "Don't you think about it, you ****. **** off. Right?"
Shreeves: "Listen, are you going to do the interview in a professional manner or not? Do you want to do it or not?"
Ferg: "You ******* be professional. You be professional. You're the one."
Shreeves: "I'm entitled to ask. Cristiano [Ronaldo] gave the right answer."
Ferg: "******* hell with your answers."
Shreeves: "Don't talk to me like that. Go away. If you want to behave civilly, fine. Don't talk to me like that."
Ferg: "**** off."

Lord Ferg indulges Sky's Geoff Shreeves in some light-hearted Glasgow patter after the MU Rowdies' FA Cup win over Middlesbrough. The BBC was later forced to can their interview with Gareth Southgate when their microphones picked up Ferg's volley of abuse.

Good on him, deliberately trying to get Ronaldo to fluff up his words deserves the wrath of Fergie.

Edit: That will be the last interview Ronaldo gives for Shreeves.

Geoff Shreeves is a Legend!

Good on him - Nobody should be spoken to like that, not in any job - If Fergie didnt like it, then he shouldnt have said anything and got your other nutter (you know, the one who loves a fight after a game) to do it instead in his portugenglish)

At least that means Shreeves will be wearing Yellow when we see you at Villa! As they say, every little helps!

That's nothing compared to the Ferguson of old. I like to see my manager sticking up for his players. This week has been an absolute disgrace with Southgate saying things like "In that situation, we would all love to do that" in reference to the vicious lunge tackle on Ronaldo. Then we have Boateng "A lot of players want to do what Morrison did. Why didn’t Ronaldo do his tricks when it was 0-0 and people were fighting to get a goal? It annoys people". Maybe Boateng should have watched the game, he was doing it the whole game.

And only this morning, ahead of an international game with Portugal, we have the Belgium keeper saying

"After two minutes we will have massacred him so much he will have to leave the pitch on a stretcher.

What else do we need to do? Portugal have greater quality and that's why we have to do things our way."

This is not on. Geoff Shreeves was trying to get Ronaldo to fall over his words because he is still new to the language. Ferguson had every right to lay into him.

I agree with you that players shouldnt say things like "break his legs" or that sort of thing, and before you say it, Im actually a fan of his SKILLS, I might not like the fact he plays for ManUre, but its better then playing for Chelski at the moment.

He doesnt show respect and I think that gets a lot of the older players backs up.

Imagine this.

Ronaldo was playing AGAINST Roy Keane and doing the same tricks and flicks.
Would Keane stand for it? Would he hell and you know that. He would do exactly the same thing, because that was part of Keano's game (love him or hate him he played with a passion which is being lost to the foriegn invasion).

Shreeves is the best Pundit on Telly - Garth Crooks would have spent 5 mins licking Fergies boots before disappearing up his backside!

What's wrong with Belgium keeper saying they're going to rough up Ronaldo? The best way to stop attacking players like him is to give them a few kicks early on in the game. I've done it many times playing 6-a-side football. Go in with a few hard challenges and they won't want to come near you for the rest of the game. If they pick up a knock and it slows them down even better.

Players like Viera etc would chop Ronaldo down.

Is there any need to do all the step overs etc Ronaldo does? Players must feel he is trying to make a mockery of them when he's dancing around.

It will only be a matter of time before somebody breaks one of his legs or he gets severly injured.

It'll be Paul Robinson if WBA get promoted.

I have roughed better players than me up before, it's part of the game. Make sure they know soon as they touch the ball you will be onto them. It has to put them off.

Yeah guys, but we're talking about football on the world stage. It's a little different. Roy Keane got fined over comments he made in his book after the actual event. And as for the RK vs Ronaldo situation, he wouldn't lump him into the air like everyone thinks he would, Ronaldo played against us before we signed him and he ran rings around everyone. He does overdo it at times with his stepovers, but it's nothing new, he does it to entertain the crowd, past players have done it, Ronaldinho does it constantly, but you don't see the hatred for him like we do for Ronaldo.

.

I met Robbo when he was at Watford (where he is still regarded as a Legend) at an end of season (1 week before the actual end) Dinner and Dance - Very funny bloke, extremely drunk (only one as he was banned for our last game of that particular Season), and I ended up having to carry him to the players coach at the end.

ROBBO ROBBO ROBBO ROBBO!!!!

Love it when I see him still flying down the wing, or putting in nice old skool tackles!

Maybe a bit OTT from ferguson, but who cares all part of the fun of football :) No need to get so wound up about it, he should have just given fergie some abuse back.

Its all well and good all these players saying "im going to do this im going to do that", wow, who cares all they are doing then is playing into ronaldo's hands, and their either going to get sent off or banned for a couple of games, and if soeone does really go for him and he is injured i would expect the man utd team to go in and stick up for their team mate, and go and injure one of their players, eye for an eye.
Its great to watch gim wind up defenders its all part of his package, puts them off their game if all they have is hatred for him, yes he goes over the top sometimes showing of his great skill, but at the end of the day he is very consistant at the moment and is one of the best player in the prem on current form.

Right up to the point when England play Portugal again, and Rooney lands him a late one!

Then turns to the bench and gives them a wink!!

Come on Euro 2008!!!!!

This whole situation is being blown out of controll. You get people saying Shreeves is a legend. So much of a legend I can only ever remember him challenging the foreign players whether they dive or not. It's not good journalism or football commentating, it's sensationalist claptrap. Taking advantage of the fact that they can't speak the language as good as players whos been here a while or are English. He never has the balls to ask players like Michael Owen (When he's fit)or Steven Gerrard if he goes down pretty easy as they would quite rightly tell him to F R O

Whats Ronaldo done other than make some very ordinary defenders look exactley what they are, ordinary. Some young kid doesn't wan't to be made to look a mug so he goes through Ronaldo. Big deal He got sent off rightly so and Ronaldo got up and got on with it. It's only Boro and the media whos made a pigs ear of this situation. If they can't keep up with Ronaldo's trickery then who's faults that. Buy better defenders who should know how to defend better.

He got a reputation for going to ground too easy along with players like Drogba and Robben. As far as I can see they have all managed to beat the opposition with skill, flair and some good taking the mick out of defenders and not cheating. All this "He should show some respect" is a load of cobblers. You earn respect and if he goes out and puts a few of the old timers on their arses then why should he tame his game down to make it a more even playing field

What next, stop Brazil from turning up at the world cup in case they embaress some lesser footballing nation with their samba skills

so do you suggest he changes what he's doing, I guess that makes sense as it's clearly not working for him...............................oh wait.........

ok for the record I hate ronaldo , but come on he is a TRUE WORLD CLASS player. The step overs etc is part of his game , he entertains , its good to watch. Again not really a man u fan at all , but come on the football they are playing (with help of ronaldo) at the moment is truley breathtaking IMO

just my 2p worth
