Hi,

I'll need to clone a windows installation from a 320gb HDD to a 240gb SSD - was goint to use Macrium free, but whats the easiest way to shrink the partition to fit before cloning?

The windows instalation & data is only about 100gb, do I shrink the partition to say 120gb, clone it then grow the partition up to 240gb once finished?

Thanks

I've done exactly what you've done many times with no issues.

Use the Disk Management built into windows rather, no need for any tools specifically to shrink or expand partitions.

Macrium will shrink the partition during the clone (won't it?). Not need to shrink it first.

I just replaced the SSD in a laptop and the new drive was about 20GB smaller. Macrium handled it fine.

Yup.

When doing any partition work, I'd take a full system image first. But I'm sure you already have a backup like this in place..
